Dean Crabbs
After Dean’s retirement from the FBI he became more active with his dogs. An avid Chukar hunter he looked for something to do with his dogs in the off season. As a member of the GSPC of Idaho he became more active helping where needed with field trials eventually chairing club events which lead to competing also. Over the years Dean moved from local to regional and national involvement. He has chaired local Regional, and National trials including the AKC Pointing Breed National Championship. He has also chaired the NGSPA Region 9 and Hungarian Partridge Championships.
In 2002 after being elected the NGSPA board he was asked if he would co-chair the Nationals. Over the past 11 years Dean has refined the process of running the event by spreading the preliminary work and on site chores to the entire board. His ability to lead and delegate have made the entire process more efficient.
Despite all the time Dean spends working trials he still finds time to train and hunt his dogs. When entering events, one knows Dean is prepared to win as evidenced by the fact one of his dogs has multiple Championship placements including runner-up in the 2014 NGSPA National Open Shooting Dog Championship. Dean’s selfless dedication to the sport and the GSP breed exemplifies what it means to be a member of the GSP Field Trial Hall of Fame.
